50+ Fearless Feminine Power

The Biggest Fattest Lie about Your Age

I know that some women don’t like to disclose their age for fear of being seen as old. Frankly, I am not one of them. I am 57 years old and proud of it, but to each her own. However this is not the biggest fattest lie that women tell. The real lie is much worse! It is a lie that stops women in their tracks, causes fear and uncertainty and makes women feel really bad about themselves. This lie keeps women playing small, stuck, stagnant and bored. It prevents them from living a life that is aligned with their deepest dreams, desires and ambitions. This lie dictates what women wear, how they relate to people, how they feel about themselves and basically how they show up in the world. And the sad truth is that this lie holds women back from finding true joy at an age when they should have more freedom to make choices that will serve their higher purpose. What is the lie, you ask? Simply- I am too old!!! When you tell yourself that you are too old to look good and feel great; change jobs for a more fulfilling one; create the life you dream about; or anything else that limits you-it is you that is stopping you. You make the choice about how you perceive your age. So how about reframing the way that you think. Whenever you are feeling old look at this list: What I focus on expands- I choose to focus on a Kick Ass second half It is never too late to make my dreams come true I have...

Ditch Your Job and Create a Life You Love Part 2

In Ditch Your Job Part 1 I began to lay the groundwork on how you can leave your job for  something better- a life and business that you create-on your terms. In order to begin this process you must: develop clarity about what you want make a commitment work on your mindset to grow the belief factor   The reason it is so important to work on the 3 items above is because once you start to move forward in the direction of your dreams, you get excited and hopeful and then, all of a sudden the saboteurs start to creep up. These tricky little devils are not always obvious to us, but like termites eating away at the sill on a house, they can do a lot of damage to the foundation of our dreams. So to elaborate, the saboteurs come in different disguises and may appear as though they are there to protect you from being hurt, looking foolish, losing everything etc.  Simply put, your saboteurs are your fears and limiting beliefs and often you believe that they are true and real and that is what makes them really tricky. The only way to reduce the saboteur’s power is to call them out for what they are and let them know that you will not let them stop you from getting what you want. Also, when you become more and more clear on what you want, make a commitment and work on your mindset, you are building a strong foundation so that you can handle these dream sucking creatures-because your vision is so big. Let’s focus on...

High Octane Nourishment for Your Mind and Spirit

We all know how important it is to have the proper nutrition for optimal health but we often don’t pay much attention to what nourishes our minds. Many people allow thoughts to enter their minds not realizing how they will affect them either positively or negatively. They also don’t understand how much they can actually control their thoughts and ultimately their results. Here are 3 ways you can control your thoughts so that you can function better, create more of what you want in your life, and live more intentionally—which creates a more vibrant you! Begin With a Cleanse and Detox- Our thoughts are created from the time we are young, before we develop a discriminating sense of whether or not they will serve us. They are not reality, but a symptom of how we perceive reality. For instance, if you were told from a young age that you were “not too smart” by someone you care about, you would begin to believe that it is true. After all, why would someone you care about say that if it is not true? In your young mind you wouldn’t think things like, “Maybe this comes from a place of self-hate, jealousy, fear, etc., and really has nothing to do with me but is all about the person where these words came from.” These thoughts of you being “not too nice” can become your beliefs – your perception of reality and you believe them to be true. They may be obvious to you or you may be holding them in your subconscious. These messy little saboteurs clog up our lives, cause...

Ditch Your Job and Create A Life You Love

It seems that more and more midlife women that I talk with are not happy in their jobs. They have worked hard for many long years, always putting the needs of their family first and this has often prevented them from going out on their own, for fear of being financially vulnerable and worse, letting their children down. I mean, there was preschool to pay for and often private school after and sports and camps and art lessons and braces and proms and college and internships abroad and weddings and yadayadaya. And for women who are either single or divorced, it is often even more difficult because they don’t have a partner to help support them. So they work in jobs to pay the bills and somewhere along the way they begin to wonder where they lost that fire of their youth…that “I can do and be anything spirit.” And as the years pass, they begin to look at their life and want something more, something just for them. But they are so stuck in their patterns of living and limited way of thinking that they don’t know where to begin. Or they feel as though it is too late. But I am here to tell you that there is always a way if you really want something and if you are one of these women, now is the time to start planning for it–not tomorrow or next week or a month from now. The clock is ticking. You see, sometimes we fail to plan because the mountain of our dreams feels so high and our dream seems so...

Soul Inspired Decorating

Some of you may know that my background includes home staging and interior decorating. I have been running my business since 2005 and still stage and decorate numerous homes in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I love doing this. And, although the strategy for staging is different than decorating, I would love to share my philosophy on Soul Inspired Decorating in this article. I believe that your home should be a full expression of who you are. It should not be determined by what your friends like, or what the magazines want you to model, or what you think may or may not be appropriate. It should be endowed with your spirit and the spirit of those living at your home. That is what makes a house a home. I do want to make it very clear that this is a different philosophy when you are staging your home to sell which is all about marketing and packaging to a larger audience. Here are some tips for creating a home aligned with your soul. 1) Create a Vibe in Tune with What Inspires You When decorating your home, what vibe do you want? Think about how you want to experience your home. Maybe you are a minimalist. Perhaps you feel as though you work really hard and your head symbolically needs a place to rest, so too much eye candy in the way of decorations would be too stimulating for you. Or maybe you are an artist like myself who likes to be surrounded by your creations and works in process so what others might perceive as clutter is what...
