50+ Fearless Feminine Power

Breathe…..Simply Breathe

In my recent blog The Gift of the Present I talked about how important it is to be mindful of the simple but profound moments of your lives so that you can savor them and allow them to linger. Being strategically mindful is something to strive for often in your day. If you have ever done yoga or meditation you would recognize the benefits of being mindful of your breath. For instance: If you have tight muscles and you “breathe into them” it helps them release and let go Breathing helps you stay grounded When you focus on your breath it brings you to the present moment and stops the mind chatter There are other benefits to being aware of your breath. If you are nervous ,your breath tends to speed up or you breathing becomes more shallow. This is the perfect time to consciously breathe deeper, into your belly and relax your body. By staying present, you are more apt to make decisions that are intuitive and guided by a higher power. You can also purposefully take a few deep breaths before responding impulsively so that you get back in touch with your higher self before you respond. My yoga teacher read the following poem to us in class and I would like to share it with you. Clive Fogelman talks beautifully about this life giving, magical force. Enjoy! Marianne Finding my Breath by Clive Fogelman You come to me when I feel untethered Unsure of my next move, you offer space to pause A sanctuary to confront my reality When I want to escape, you bring me back...

The Gift of the Present

This  Holiday Season I have decided that I want to be intentionally more “present”-to enjoy all of the little things that often get missed in the hustle and bustle-the personal connections, the looks on my loved ones faces, the simple but profound moments. It is an eventful year as my oldest daughter turns 30 on the 23rd and my husband turns 60 on Christmas Day. Where did the time go? I remember my Grandmother saying that as you get older, life seems to go by faster and faster and it feels so true. That is why I want to pay attention more and be more present-so that life is magnified, more poignant and each moment becomes more special. After all, the present is all we really have and it is so easy to get caught up by all the “pressures” of the Holiday season to find the perfect gift, create the perfect feast and go to every event invited to. I am not interested in that. What really catches my fancy is the connections I share with people I love. It is that simple. Or watching them laugh, love and simply “be”. As I get older, more and more, I am doing what pleases me and mostly they are the simple things. Here are just some of the things that make my heart sing around the Holidays: Spending time with my family on Christmas morning opening stockings together while listening to Christmas carols and the music of their laughter Having family here Christmas Day- lots of love and laughter (and a Baileys Irish Cream toast to Nan in heaven)...

Is Nine to Five Killing You Alive?

9 to 5, whoa what a way to make a livin’ Barely gettin’ by, it’s all takin’ and no givin’ They just use your mind and they never give you credit It’s enough to drive you crazy if you let it Songwriters: PALMER, FLORRIE 9-5 Lyric Warner/ Chappell Music, Inc. Hello there, did I get your attention with this bold title? Well I certainly hope so because based on the overwhelming feedback that I received from Ditch Your Job Part 1  and Ditch Your Job Part 2 many of you are feeling frustrated and  stuck by the trappings of a 9-5 job that rob you of your life’s energy and your precious time. As you get older you realize that time is running out to really create your life your way, based on what you value most.  But you are stuck and believe that you are caught between a rock and a hard place. You know that you want out but you keep getting sucked back in by the promise of a pension, the benefits and the false sense of security that a 9-5 job offers. Just the thought of leaving your “secure job” scares you shiftless-you are afraid of shifting into the belief that you could possibly create something better in your life-something that honors what you value most. Just as a side note, I want to shatter your beliefs. I believe that a 9-5 job is an illusion of security. More and more people are being laid off due to downsizing, outsourcing and ageism. At a 9-5 job you are at the mercy of something other than yourself...

What is Your Clear and Compelling Vision?

What is Your Clear and Compelling Vision? As we approach 2015 this is an opportune time to think about your business and what you would like to accomplish-not just financially but how your business will impact the people you serve and fuel your spirit. A clear and compelling vision will articulate the experience you would like your customers to have as well as the transformation they will have after working with you. It is the foundation for everything that you do in your business and the litmus test for what you stand for in your marketing, branding and the way you do business. If you really think about it, a clear and compelling vision is your “Big Why”. It answers the question “Why have I chosen this particular business and how can I make the lives of my customers better?” I would like to share my vision for my coaching business so that you can see what I mean. It can be summed up in one sentence but for me, it goes deeper on so many levels. Here it is: My vision is to help Baby Boomer women find more joy, passion and purpose in their life so that they can create a smokin’ hot second half. For me, what fuels my business is the belief that Baby Boomer women have changed the world for women in so many ways by reinventing what it looks like to be a woman. And I am sooo proud to be part of a generation of women who have opened up so many possibilities for themselves as well as future generations of women....

Create Amazing Results with Intention

Our intentions are the conscious or unconscious choices that we make that create our reality. Whether we are aware or not, we are always creating the circumstances in our life by virtue of the beliefs we hold to be true. When we are conscious of our beliefs or intentions it is easier to change them mindfully. However when we are not conscious of  beliefs or intentions that sabotage what we want, it can be tricky. There is a simple way to determine what our prominent intentions are. Look at the results you are getting in your life. If you are not getting the results that you want , on some level you are manifesting your subconscious intentions or competing beliefs. Bottom line is that your results will always match your truest (strongest) intentions……PERIOD! A good coach can help you uncover what your “default” intentions are so that you can stop sabotaging yourself from what you truly want. It is much more difficult for you to change something that you may not be aware of. Once you are aware of these beliefs that sabotage you, you can begin to over ride them with a clear and compelling vision of what you truly want. The more clarity that you have about what you want, the easier it is to manifest it. What you focus on expands so be intentional about focusing on what you want and not on what you don’t want. Simply put, when you focus on abundance, you will have more abundance. When you focus on lack you will get more lack. To further explain how competing intentions can...
