50+ Fearless Feminine Power

Baby Boomer Woman-The Giving Trap-Is this You?

Have you ever given and given and given and then felt resentful, under-appreciated and taken for granted? Perhaps you consciously or subconsciously kept giving because you thought that you would get love, respect, a raise or something else for what you brought to the table. I mean, after all, you put your whole heart and soul into helping whoever received your gifts!  It just doesn’t seem fair, does it? Unfortunately, many “unselfish” women who do things constantly for others while neglecting their own needs, harbor resentment for the very people they serve. They become exhausted mentally, physically, and spiritually because there is not an equal exchange of energy.  They are expending all of their life energy but are not receiving and thus replenishing. Usually their resentment comes out in passive aggressive ways because they don’t want to rock the boat but are feeling frustrated by the lack of reciprocity. This can happen in business or personal relationships. Here is an example: Fran was working at a small business as an assistant to the owner. She helped him triple his business over the course of 7 years. Throughout her employment, her boss promised her that as he grew financially, so would she. Wanting to be of incredible value and earn what she deserved Fran kept taking on more and more and more. Her boss was doing less and less and Fran was becoming exhausted and resentful. And to add insult to injury, she hadn’t gotten a raise in 7 years while her boss was spending money like a drunken sailor on extravagant vacations, vacation homes, etc. Fran thought that if she...

The #1 Secret to Wellness and Vitality

One of my favorite health and wellness gurus is Dr. Christiane Northrup, I fell in love with her teachings when I read Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom back in the 90’s because she approached health and wellness in a more complete and profound way. I am currently reading her new book Goddesses Never Age and it is really getting me excited because she explains how to embrace age in a way that Western Culture has not honored it ……yet! One of my missions is to help  women embrace aging and her way of looking at things is aligned with mine-only she explains complicated medical, spiritual and scientific things in a way that is easy to digest and totally makes sense. What sets her apart from a lot of traditional Western medicine practitioners is that she takes a more Eastern and Ayervedic approach to health and well being. Dr. Northrup believes that the first place you need to look when anything goes wrong with your body is your emotions. According to Dr. Northrup, your beliefs and thoughts are wired into your biology and become your cells, tissues and organs. You actually hold unprocessed emotions in the tissues of your body! If you have ever experienced any type of energy work, then you understand how your body is made of energy and that the energy travels in meridians. These meridians transport life energy or Chi/Qi to different areas of your body. Physical problems arise when there are blockages, leading to lack of energy to certain areas of the body or surplus to other areas. Everything is connected in this energy system. The...

Baby Boomer Woman-Is it Time to Rewrite Your Story?

I feel so humbled and honored to work with all kinds of amazing women in my business. It is such a joy for me to be able to watch each woman triumph over her challenges and witness her unique transformation into a new way of being The transformation doesn’t usually happen in one giant leap. Some of the most profound changes take place in each woman with the small steps that allow her to finally begin to own her power and start creating her life intentionally. It is all of these small victories that cumulatively create a more powerful woman- a woman who is innately true to herself and shows up in the world from a centered place of power and joy. I am not talking about an egoic kind of power. I am talking about the kind of power that comes from a more whole, centered and loving place-a place where each of these women expresses kindness to herself and it radiates out into the world in a way that attracts more of its kind. Can you imagine the power of that in your life? Can you imagine the power of that in the world? One of the ways that I help these women express more kindness to themselves is to understand that many of the “stories” that they have bought “hook line and sinker” about themselves are simply not true. They are lies that don’t serve them and only hurt them! It breaks my heart that many women heard these stories from people that they loved and were supposed to love them, usually at an impressionable age...

Get Your Groove Back On

I am amazed at how fast life goes by. I am 57 years old and can’t believe where the time has gone and I am often reminded of one of my favorite quotes by singer Bonnie Raitt “Life gets mighty precious when there is less of it to waste”. And instead of sticking my head in the sand and letting the river of life take me mindlessly along, I want to live each day intentionally-to build my dreams with purpose and gusto and to enjoy the journey-more than ever! The way that I see it is, I am co creating with the Universe. What about you? What do you want? How do you envision living the rest of your life? If you are interested in being more intentional about your life, I would like to offer some ways to help you get started. 1) Let Go of The Old to Let in The New– In order to reinvent yourself you have to be willing to let go of your old “way of being” to let in the new “way of being”. Most often this begins with your mindset. You have to be willing to challenge the way you have been operating from the inside out. For example, if you always put everyone else’s needs first so that there is nothing left for you, you might begin by taking simple steps. Remind yourself that it is perfectly ok to ask for help, let someone else do for you or learn how to say no when you find yourself doing something that you really don’t want to do. Avoid the urge to always be...

The #1 Secret to Staying Grounded in an Ever Changing World

In this ever changing world it sometimes seems as though sometimes things are completely out of our control. And yet, we can choose to handle any situation in a multitude of ways. So how do you determine which is the best way to handle the circumstances, decisions and challenges in your life? I believe that the #1 way to stay grounded so that you can navigate the course of your life is to tap into your North Star. Your North Star the most amazing, authentic part of you that is totally aligned with your inner wisdom as well as universal wisdom. It is sort of your inner navigation system that is constant and dependable in an ever changing world. This is the heart, soul and spirit of you that is in touch with what is best for you. It is the pearl in the oyster, the peanut in the shell and the heart of the artichoke. Your North Star leads all parts of you with compassion and wisdom, clarity and courage. When you tap into your North Star it will guide you to the fullest expression of who you truly are, with wisdom and compassion. We all have a North Star-however it can get buried under layers of self sabotage or neglect. And frankly, one of my most important goals in coaching is to help people uncover their North Star-it is THAT important! I would like to tell you about my North Star as an example. She is called the Yoga Warrior Goddess. She helps me stay grounded and centered at all times. She brings me back to spirit...
