3 Ways to Stop Marking Time and Start Living

Have you taken stock of your life lately?

Do you get excited to get up every day or are you sort of just going through the motions?

Are you feeling as though there is nothing to get excited about anymore?

Somewhere along the way of working to pay bills, taking care of everyone’s needs and not listening to your divine inner wisdom, you may have forgotten what excites you, what makes your heart sing. And instead of peeling back the layers to find your passion so that you can feel alive again, you compromise your life by playing safe and dull and sort of flat lining.

You may make up excuses that you don’t have the time or the energy or the money to do the very thing that you know would light you up. You are so used to living by everyone else’s rules of who you should be that you may not even know what it is you want anymore.

Often these rules are implicit, and ingrained in your subconscious. Deep down you think that if you start to do what it is you want you will be hurting someone else, as if there is not enough happiness to go around for everyone.

Here are 3 Ways You Can Stop Marking Time and Start Living:

1) Make Your Own Rules– Forget about all of the “shoulds” that you tell yourself that keep you from doing what you want. The “shoulds” may look like this: “I want to take an art class on Tuesdays but I should go visit a friend that I haven’t seen instead.” Or “I want to take an art class but I should put that money into a retirement account instead” Or “I want to take an art class on Tuesdays but I won’t be home in time to make dinner for my family”. Don’t let these shoulds stop you from doing what makes you happy. There is always a way to do what you would like to do. Just decide to do it!

2) Let Go of Limiting Beliefs – There are many ways that limiting beliefs show up when you are stepping outside of your comfort zone. For instance, you may find yourself making up excuses for not trying something because you tried it before and it didn’t work out. Think again. You may have learned a lot from trying. You may be older and wiser and you may know just the thing to do that will make it successful.

Or you may tell yourself that you don’t have the time or money to do something you have always wanted to do. More times than not this is just a story and you just have to open up to ways you can make this happen.

3) Shake things Up and Get Out of Your Comfort Zone- Start taking baby steps towards doing something that you have always wanted to do, If it makes you feel uncomfortable but excited, great! That is normal. Just take one more step, then another and another.

It is your job to make sure that you are living the life you want. If you aren’t satisfied with where you are in your life, start creating your next chapter. It is never too late-NEVER!
