3 Ninja Transformative Questions to Ask Yourself When You Want to Grow Your Business

When I am coaching a client (or myself) I find that the questions that I ask often lead to the biggest break throughs. They help us get to know ourselves better and think more expansively. They challenge us to think differently and come from a place of possibility. With that in mind I thought that I would ask you 3 of the most compelling questions for you to explore. Before you answer these questions make sure that you are relaxed and feeling open.Take a few deep breaths and let them out. Check in with your body and release any tension. And when you are ready, ask yourself: What would I do if I could not fail? Often we get so caught up in making a mistake or not being perfect that we energetically sabotage ourselves. And we hold ourselves back from trying new things because we are afraid we might feel like a fool if we “fail”. We put way too much pressure on ourselves. It is time to lighten up and let go of the attachment to the outcome. When we do this we free up our inner guidance system to “do its thing”. Let go of the attachment to the outcome, be present and try something that you might not have otherwise. If I were playing to win, what might I do? Too often we play the “not to lose game” and that keeps us playing small. It is fear based instead of full of possibility. It keeps us stuck because we are more afraid of losing what we have than gaining something far better-something magnificent! In...

The Inner Game of Business Success

I would like to talk with you about the inner game of business because I truly believe that, as a business owner, the most important key to success is a solid mindset that will allow you to endure all of the challenges that growing a business presents. We can be our own worst enemies. If our mindset is off, we will actually sabotage ourselves by caving when we need to be strong and playing safe when we need to leap. The truth is that everyone approaches their businesses differently and there is no one single way to create a successful business. Your business model should be unique to you and get you excited. That is what will give you the inner energy to follow through when times get tough. And that is why strategies and tactics for growing a business are not enough. You can model all of the same strategies as other successful business owners in your field, but if your mindset is not in alignment and you aren’t excited about what you are striving for , you will sabotage yourself and often you really won’t understand why. Mindset is the foundation to your success! It keeps you grounded, hopeful, resilient and fearless. It will get you through the tough times and provide the energy and fortitude to keep you moving forward. When you implement all of the “right” strategies but don’t have the “energy” behind them, you will easily cave when you meet a challenge or obstacle. Innately you won’t really believe that you can handle the setbacks and you will default to old, limiting patterns that...

The Inner Game of Personal Power

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” – Alice Walker   In order to find real success in life and business, it is so important that we own our innate power. I am not referring to the power that we exert over others. Nor am I talking about an egoic kind of power. The power that I am talking about is a power that lies within us that helps us choose what is possible rather than what we should avoid. It comes from a place of abundance instead of scarcity and lack. When our mindset is aligned with “playing to win” versus playing the “not to lose” game, that is power! Personal power gives us a feeling of freedom, expansiveness and possibility. If we feel powerful from the inside out-the world is our oyster. We are able to defy our fears and accomplish our dreams. We feel safe and look at the world as full of possibility rather than filled with threats. We care less about what others think of us and more of what we think of ourselves. We realize that if we trust our divine inner guidance, we can conquer anything. “The way in which we think of ourselves has everything to do with how our world sees us and how we see ourselves successfully acknowledged by the world.”– Arlene Rankin   When we tap into our power it is easier for us to achieve our goals because we place our focus more on the end result and less on the challenges, including the most difficult challenges which...

Three Big New Years Business Resolutions

This is the time of year that many of us make resolutions for the New Year. The gyms are packed with people who are hell bent on starting the New Year off right. Business owners have made lofty business plans to double and even triple their income. And many of us vow that we will do better this year than we did last year. So why is it that as the months unfold, we will see less people at the gym, the business plans that seemed so exciting at the beginning of the year have fallen short of goals and old self defeating habits have crept back in? I believe that there are three key things that you should focus on in order for you to break that glass ceiling and exceed your own expectations in your business: Re Think Your Business Plan Often business owners write business plans in a very left brain linear way-wanting to go from point a to point b. For example one of the typical goals is to double your income from the previous year. But what does that take? True transformation takes place when you pointedly question who you have to “become” in order to double your income. I truly believe that to grow your business you have to grow yourself. You have to be willing to grow and stretch and think expansively. You literally have to grow into the person who runs a lucrative business. Here is where you have to challenge your usual way of thinking and ask yourself compelling, transformative questions like: Who do I have to become in order...

Creating Your Life With Your Whole Heart

The older that I get the more important I believe that it is to live my life full out because even if I am lucky enough to live another 40 years (yup-that would make me 99) I realize how much more precious my time is here on Earth. And I don’t want to squander it by playing small anymore. Been there, done that and it is borrrring!!! I would much rather embrace life, take chances, enjoy the journey, let go of attachment to the outcome, express my unique spirit in the world, stand in my power, share the best parts of me. What about you? Do you feel that way? I was just listening to an interview with Brene Brown and she touched on this very subject. She calls it living with whole heartedness and she talks about the opposite of this which is living with half heartedness: Half heartedness is when you say to yourself “I won’t put my whole heart into something and I will hedge my bets, so that if I fail I won’t be as hurt”. Brene Brown This of course, is not true. It is fear based thinking-allowing our fear to determine our destiny. It is the stuff that regrets are made of. It also makes us feel as though we somehow robbed ourselves of our own magnificence because we will always wonder…… “What if I would have put my whole heart and soul into something. What might have been? Who might I have become?” Fear of failure is a passion killer and it stops us from owning our magnificence. Of course no one likes...

Lifestyle Business for the Baby Boomer Woman

As we know all too well, life goes by quickly and I remember my Grandmother telling me that it seems to go by faster as we get older. I don’t know about you but I want to slow it down, to drink up the days and savor them-to live my life even more intentionally now that I am only a couple years shy of my 60th birthday. The good news is that statistics are proving that many of us will have a much longer life than our Grandparents and this begs the question: If you knew that you will live your life for 20 or 30 years or more, what would you like to create in your life? One of the ways that you can create the life that you want is by creating a lifestyle business. A lifestyle business is a business that places what is important to you in your life first and foremost so that your business supports your life instead of the other way around.   I have created 2 lifestyle businesses -my home staging business and my coaching practice and they have brought more joy into my life than I could have imagined. Because of them, I love my work, my time is more flexible, I get to be creative, I have more confidence in myself, I am happier, my family is happier because I am more relaxed, I am healthier physically, emotionally and spiritually because I make sure that I carve out time to go to yoga, eat better and have some “fun time”. I can travel whenever I want. My businesses give...
