The Secret to Getting What You Want

I see it over and over again, Someone says that they want to lose weight, be in a loving relationship, land the perfect job, build a lifestyle business, have more fun, etc. and then they don’t take the steps to achieve that goal. And I believe that one of the most important reasons is that they don’t set specific intentions on a daily basis. It is so important to be intentional in your business and life. Otherwise you will simply be taking what you get instead of creating your life and business by design-your design. Intention is the creative power that aligns our body, mind and spirit with our dreams. Everything in the universe begins with intention. Once you set your intention you will begin to instinctually know how to handle any situation for optimal results. You will act as a result of the way that you are “being” from the inside/out and this will guide you. An intention is not the same as a goal. A goal is a desired result that typically has a deadline. An intention is more of a way to align with the essence of what you would like for the outcome to be in any given situation. Here is an example. Often we set intentions at the beginning of a yoga class. For example, I might tell myself to stay open, let go of stress or “go to my edge”. You can see how different shifts in perspective might give me a completely different yoga experience. The journey is as important as any outcome. Whether you are meeting with a client, a prospect, your...

3 Ninja Transformative Questions to Ask Yourself When You Want to Grow Your Business

When I am coaching a client (or myself) I find that the questions that I ask often lead to the biggest break throughs. They help us get to know ourselves better and think more expansively. They challenge us to think differently and come from a place of possibility. With that in mind I thought that I would ask you 3 of the most compelling questions for you to explore. Before you answer these questions make sure that you are relaxed and feeling open.Take a few deep breaths and let them out. Check in with your body and release any tension. And when you are ready, ask yourself: What would I do if I could not fail? Often we get so caught up in making a mistake or not being perfect that we energetically sabotage ourselves. And we hold ourselves back from trying new things because we are afraid we might feel like a fool if we “fail”. We put way too much pressure on ourselves. It is time to lighten up and let go of the attachment to the outcome. When we do this we free up our inner guidance system to “do its thing”. Let go of the attachment to the outcome, be present and try something that you might not have otherwise. If I were playing to win, what might I do? Too often we play the “not to lose game” and that keeps us playing small. It is fear based instead of full of possibility. It keeps us stuck because we are more afraid of losing what we have than gaining something far better-something magnificent! In...

The Inner Game of Business Success

I would like to talk with you about the inner game of business because I truly believe that, as a business owner, the most important key to success is a solid mindset that will allow you to endure all of the challenges that growing a business presents. We can be our own worst enemies. If our mindset is off, we will actually sabotage ourselves by caving when we need to be strong and playing safe when we need to leap. The truth is that everyone approaches their businesses differently and there is no one single way to create a successful business. Your business model should be unique to you and get you excited. That is what will give you the inner energy to follow through when times get tough. And that is why strategies and tactics for growing a business are not enough. You can model all of the same strategies as other successful business owners in your field, but if your mindset is not in alignment and you aren’t excited about what you are striving for , you will sabotage yourself and often you really won’t understand why. Mindset is the foundation to your success! It keeps you grounded, hopeful, resilient and fearless. It will get you through the tough times and provide the energy and fortitude to keep you moving forward. When you implement all of the “right” strategies but don’t have the “energy” behind them, you will easily cave when you meet a challenge or obstacle. Innately you won’t really believe that you can handle the setbacks and you will default to old, limiting patterns that...

Lifestyle Business for the Baby Boomer Woman

As we know all too well, life goes by quickly and I remember my Grandmother telling me that it seems to go by faster as we get older. I don’t know about you but I want to slow it down, to drink up the days and savor them-to live my life even more intentionally now that I am only a couple years shy of my 60th birthday. The good news is that statistics are proving that many of us will have a much longer life than our Grandparents and this begs the question: If you knew that you will live your life for 20 or 30 years or more, what would you like to create in your life? One of the ways that you can create the life that you want is by creating a lifestyle business. A lifestyle business is a business that places what is important to you in your life first and foremost so that your business supports your life instead of the other way around.   I have created 2 lifestyle businesses -my home staging business and my coaching practice and they have brought more joy into my life than I could have imagined. Because of them, I love my work, my time is more flexible, I get to be creative, I have more confidence in myself, I am happier, my family is happier because I am more relaxed, I am healthier physically, emotionally and spiritually because I make sure that I carve out time to go to yoga, eat better and have some “fun time”. I can travel whenever I want. My businesses give...

Time to Kiss Your Inner Critic Bye Bye

Have you ever finally gotten the courage to create what you want in your life and you are feeling really great about it and then……kaboom…… you start getting plagued by self doubt and limiting beliefs? Perhaps you start thinking things like: “Why did I ever think that I could finish this? Who am I to do this? I don’t know what I am doing. I am lost. I don’t have what it takes to do this”. Welcome to the world of your self sabotaging, spirit sucking inner critic. Our inner critic saps us of our motivation and makes us feel as though our actions are futile and because it causes us anxiety, our natural inclination is to avoid the very thing that we need to do to move forward. It can paralyze us, cause us to avoid through procrastination or addictive behaviors or withdraw. One of the ways that my inner critic used to show up was in the middle of an art project. I would be going along happily and then I would get stuck. I would think to myself “I am totally screwing this up. I don’t like the way that this is coming out. Maybe I should just start over. Why did I think that I could do this anyway? Argggghhhhh” It seemed to happen every time! Recognizing this voice helped. I learned to say to myself, “Marianne, just walk away and when you come back, look at the whole picture-the bird’s eye view and then trust your gut -your divine inner wisdom-and then go with it”. We always have a choice regarding the way we...

Detox for a Fresh New Outlook on Life

Do you have toxic thoughts that prevent you from living the life that you really want? Is it time to detox them? Thoughts that keep us feeling bad, depressed, sluggish, not good enough, etc. only serve to clog up our mojo and prevent us from living life full out. Toxic thoughts are like poison to our dreams and keep us playing small and prevent us from creating the life we want. They tell us things like “we are not good enough, smart enough ,skinny enough”, etc. to do what we really want to do. They convince us that everyone else that has succeeded has some sort of an advantage that we don’t. Think about these examples: “Sure Oprah can lose weight-she can afford a personal trainer and chef but I can’t”. “I am too old to apply for that job. I am sure they want someone young”. ” I will never be able to save enough money to travel so why bother?” ” I can’t ask for that raise. My boss never gives raises.” ” It is too late for me to start a business. I just don’t know how to market.” Notice how all of these thoughts keep us coming from a place of powerlessness? They deflate us. I would like to show you examples of how you might reframe these poisonous thoughts so that you feel empowered. “If Oprah can lose weight, so can I. She is such an inspiration.” “I would bring maturity and incredible wisdom to that job. Why wouldn’t they want me?” ” Travelling has been my life long dream and I am going...
