One of the biggest challenges about growing your staging or design business is likely to be your sabotaging beliefs around money.
Money mindset can be a huge roadblock to moving forward.
It is one of the most common reasons business owners do not take a leap of faith and invest in and grow their business.
Here are some examples of how business owners sabotage their growth with a “scarcity” money mindset:
- they don’t invest in coaching or mentoring even though it would be a total game changer for them and help them make more money.
- they don’t invest in inventory or a warehouse even though they stand to be more competitive in their market and make more money.
- they don’t leverage their time by outsourcing when they are on the cusp of growing big and making more money.
- they don’t invest in better marketing so that they make more money.
- they don’t own their value and charge what they are worth so that they easily make more money
And no matter how strongly they want to achieve their goals, if they don’t confront their money issues, it will stop them dead in their tracks at a time when they should be moving forward.
I am a firm believer that mindset is the foundation to success when you want to grow your business and improve your life.
Without understanding mindset and your “automatic” belief system you will fall prey to obstacles that are truly self imposed. You will be pressing the gas pedal and the brakes at the same time and going nowhere fast.
A mindset that is aligned with your goals will render you unstoppable!
So how do you make sure that your money mindset is in alignment with your goals?
Here are 3 ways:
1) Uncover Limiting Beliefs Around Money– we all have money “stories” that color the way that we look at money. We create these stories by forming a belief that becomes our default way of looking at things.
It starts with our thoughts, then our thoughts become our beliefs and our beliefs literally become wired into our neural pathways in our brain.
Here are some of these disempowering beliefs about money:
Money doesn’t grow on trees.
Money is the root of all evil.
You have to work your ass off to make good money.
Wanting a lot of money makes me shallow and selfish.
I don’t deserve to get paid more for my services.
Now hear this:
Our beliefs become the lens through which we see things but they are NOT reality. We get to choose beliefs that create the reality that we want instead.
The first step is recognizing our default beliefs and shining a light on them. The next step is to reframe those beliefs into beliefs that empower you to achieve what you want.
2) Reframe Limiting Beliefs- Once you have uncovered your limiting money beliefs, it is time to reframe those beliefs into beliefs that will help you see money from a place of abundance and possibility.
When you consistently do this, you will literally create new neural pathways that will override your past, disempowering beliefs.
How cool is that?
So these new empowering beliefs become your default system.
Here are some empowering money beliefs:
Money is attracted to me like bees to honey.
I know what I am worth and will stand by my worth in my pricing.
I will create incredible value for my ideal clients and get paid handsomely for the value I provide.
I will work smart and leverage my time to create more money in less time.
Money is great-it helps me ____________(fill in the blanks-think Big and Juicy)
I will invest in my business in order to grow and get a great return on investment.
3) Trust Your Divine Inner Wisdom- Now you might be saying “But I can’t invest in everything and there are so many options. How do I know what I should invest in and when I should invest?”
And my answer is this: It is incredibly important that you learn to trust your divine inner wisdom-the part of you that is connected to universal intelligence.
When I studied coaching at Coaches Training Institute, one of the premises of this training is that we are all creative, resourceful and whole.
We ALL have what it takes to be fabulous and create the life and business that we want, but we often get in our own way.
Your divine inner wisdom knows what you need and it calls out to you all the time. It whispers ideas and inspiration about the best direction for you to go in your business. It provides answers to your most pressing questions and it guides you in the right direction
…….but you have to be willing to listen to its voice.
Sometimes we hear it but fear stops us from moving forward. If the voice keeps getting stronger, we know that we are onto something.
And here is the total game changer that may make your stomach turn in somersaults. When your divine inner wisdom speaks to you, you must act in spite of that fear.
You must take a leap of faith!
The people who are really successful understand that it is imperative that they listen to the voice of divine inner wisdom and create from there instead of the voice of fear and limiting beliefs that keep us playing small.
