I’m a substitute teacher. I gave some high school students an assignment which involved them getting out of their seats and interacting with other students. They absolutely HATED it because, they protested, it was in their words “too social.” They didn’t WANT to interact with others. I was amazed that in a class of 23 students, most did not know the names of their peers in the class, even students sitting right next to them! Of course, everyone acknowledges that video games, TV, social media and other forms of mind-deadening entertainment are killing social skills. At first, I thought at first that was bad. However, upon careful analysis, I changed my mind — it’s actually GOOD! If the next generation doesn’t socialize, they won’t hate others. If they don’t hate others, there won’t be wars, strife and conflict. Indeed, there will be WORLD PEACE AT LAST! TGFSM — thank God for social media! It’s the greatest instrument for world peace in our time!
