I believe that it is really important to “shake things up” once in awhile so that we see things from a different perspective- a much more empowering perspective. Often we get caught up in “figuring things out” for our lives and businesses from a linear perspective. Perhaps we follow a plan that has been successful for someone else and we assume that we will get the same results.
However, there is another way and this way, if you are not familiar with it, may seem a little bit daunting or woowoo for those of you pragmatic folks out there.
This other way has us tapping into universal wisdom and combines it with the DNA of our Soul so that we tune into solutions that we may not have thought of. It involves being in congruence with what feels great and creative and expansive instead of unexciting, tried and true, and typical.
Although it doesn’t come with a recipe for certainty, it is super juice for entrepreneurs because it allows us to put our personal stamp on everything that we do.
If we follow our soul’s whispers we will feel empowered to trust ourselves more from the inside out and we will create a life beyond our wildest dreams.

When we feel empowered from the inside out, our lives and businesses are in flow because we are aligned with a much more profound source of energy. We become more resourceful and things come to us easily. We actually magnetize things to our life that support what we want on a deeper level.
One of the ways that we can do this is by paying attention to what our soul is asking of us. In order to do this we have to understand the ways that our souls speak to us.
First let’s talk about the ways that it does NOT speak to us.
- It does not speak to us in the endless chatter and problem solving that we do in our heads
- It does not show up by doing things that we default to such as things that we think we “should do”
- It does not make us feel constrictive
- It does not necessarily follow the “norm” or mainstream
Our soul talks to us in imagery, intuition, metaphors and feeling. By feeling I don’t mean emotions. Feeling is much deeper. It is what you know in your gut.
Here is an example: For many years I was in the Real Estate Business and I often felt that Sellers presented their homes in a way that was totally unappealing. They seemed to expect their Real Estate Agents to sell their overpriced cluttered, dated homes without any investment on their part. That was the mindset of Sellers at the time in my area of New England.
In my opinion, preparing a home better for sale was simple marketing 101. I felt strongly that I could help people sell their homes faster and for more money if they paid better attention to how the house “showed”. After all, they were selling a “dream” to Buyers.
I had heard about staging and knew that it was very popular in California and other areas of the country, but not in New England. People looked at me with blank stares when I suggested it. But in my gut, I felt that I could create a business out of this despite the perceived difficulty of getting people onboard. It was a knowing that I had inside in spite of my fears around the risk of investing in something that might not pay off. I trusted my gut, followed my soul’s calling and built a very successful staging business.
The trickiest part about following your soul is trusting and taking that leap of faith before you see any evidence. You have to believe before you see.
Here are some ways to get more in tune with your soul’s calling:
- Pay attention to when you get ideas that come easily to you. Perhaps they come to you in a yoga class, when you are washing dishes or going for a walk
- Pay attention to what you muse about doing –if only (fill in the blanks). Often we stop ourselves with reasons that are born of fear or limiting beliefs and not reality
- Pay attention to your dreams
- Pay attention to things that keep showing up in your life that you don’t want. This may be your soul’s way of showing you contrast so that you can make better decisions
It takes courage to listen to your soul and act upon it. All of your gremlin’s might come up. Do it anyways. Do it and see that you can create a most amazing life and business that is infused with energy, freedom and abundance.
